Smart guest identity

One credential. More useful interactions.

Connect arrival identity to access, sessions and engagement with NFC or RFID enabled credentials designed around the event.

Built around your event

Identity and access

AFRIREG can combine QR, NFC or RFID with guest categories and permissions. The correct technology depends on range, speed, environment, reporting needs and budget.

  • NFC cards, stickers and wristbands
  • RFID credential options
  • Access and session rules
  • Guest-category permissions
  • Real-time or synchronised data
  • Custom integration planning

Identity and access

Use encoded tags, stickers, cards or wristbands to validate guests at controlled areas and entrances.

Sessions and CPD

Record participation at workshops, accredited sessions or multi day programmes with timestamped identity events.

Connected experiences

Where required, guest identity can link into activations, gamification, lead capture or custom event software.

01

Selecting NFC or RFID for the event objective

NFC and RFID are not interchangeable labels for the same workflow. NFC is designed for intentional short range taps, while RFID can support different reading ranges and movement patterns. AFRIREG recommends the simplest technology that can meet the access, attendance or engagement requirement.

The decision considers guest volume, reader positions, venue materials, credential type, required evidence and budget. A QR code may remain the best tool for arrival while NFC or RFID supports selected interactions later in the journey.

02

NFC badges for sessions and CPD records

An encoded NFC sticker, card or wristband can be linked to the guest record during registration. Guests then tap at the correct session reader when entering and, where required, when leaving. Each interaction produces a timestamped attendance event.

For CPD programmes, qualification rules can compare attendance duration with the approved session requirement. Reports can show the underlying check in and check out records so accreditation decisions remain explainable and auditable.

03

RFID guest movement and access

RFID credentials can support controlled zones, high volume movement or experiences where a deliberate QR scan is not ideal. Reader placement and antenna behaviour must be tested in the real venue environment to avoid missed or unintended reads.

Guest category permissions can determine which entrances, areas or activities are available. Live status information helps the onsite team respond to access questions while the final data provides a record of authorised activity.

04

Connected activations and event engagement

Smart credentials can link guests to interactive displays, competitions, content requests, product experiences or lead capture. The interaction can feel simple to the guest while creating structured data for the organiser and participating brands.

AFRIREG combines credential encoding, linking tools, custom software and onsite support so the technology remains part of one guest journey. Privacy notices and data permissions should be designed around the exact interaction being recorded.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between QR and NFC?

QR uses an optical scan and is cost effective; NFC uses short range wireless interaction and can feel faster or more seamless. The event workflow should decide.

Can NFC track CPD sessions?

Yes, when the credential, reader placement and attendance rules are designed for the accreditation requirement.

Is RFID always necessary?

No. We recommend the simplest technology that meets the access, speed and reporting requirement.
